Hey guys about 2 weeks ago my 04 SE (stock) started misfiring intermittently and eventually through an engine code
P0352 after 2 weeks at the mechanics the coils, spark plugs and leads have been changed but the code is still coming up. The car seems to run fine according to the mechanics.
Any ideas. TIA

If the vehicle is running without a misfire why worry? Drive it and return if the fault persists. I had some misfiring problems and I only fixed it by using OEM coil packs bit if its running well leave it be.

Just drove it home from the shop, doesn’t seem to be completely fine, there’s still something off like it’s out of time or something but only slightly.
I’m not just going to keep driving it if something is still clearly off

Seems to be a mystery. I wonder if taking it to a Mazda Dealer will result in an answer? I'd guess they'd start swapping stuff with Mazda parts (again!)

Over 12months on, I still haven't resolved mine. Or maybe 24months on... Haha.
Have replaced CAS, ignition leads, spark plugs, then replaced coilpacks with a fab9 COP kit.
After all that, I changed to a new exhaust and CAI, and had my ECU chipped by Chiptorque.
Next up, I'll have to look at the ground leads for the ignition circuit or the ECU side of the wiring. I'm sure I'll get there... Car drives ok but you call tell it hesitates slightly at WOT.

Sounds a bit like the usual hesitation common to modded SEs - been mentioned on here, but perhaps not recently.

Update.
Called mx5 mania to see if they had any ideas, turns out SE’s don’t respond kindly to non-genuine Coil packs. They fixed the missfire but apparently don’t have the right resistance to clear the cel code. Bought 2 new ones from there website on express shipping and within a 10 minute swap the cars running great and the code is gone.
My mechanic did check the resistance on the other coils I had in there and they are under the specified level according to Mazda. Hope if anyone having the same trouble finds this useful because it was a mission for me to try and figure out

Thanks for posting this!! That would explain why my car runs fine now after installing the fab9 COP kit but still triggers the CEL.

I suspected that non-oem stuff was causing it.
Great result.
