NB Speed sensors. Are the bodies all the same, just the cog on the end that's different?
Mine has a small crack on the body and is weeping. The 3.6 version is either non existent or $$$
Hoping a run of the mill NB 6speed (4.1??) sensor would be cheaper and easier to come by, swap the cog over and done.

I'm pretty sure every NB 6-speed in Australia is a 3.6.......

Nope. I doubt 10AE and 40AE were 3.6 (but happy to be corrected). NB8B ADM were 3.6, but the ones imported from Japan - probably not all, and I am betting there are quite a few of those floating around.
Just found conflicting advice on 10AE - 3.6 or 3.9 ...

Been there and done it all.
Have a look a this.
http://www.aus-cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=74545&p=909820&hilit=sender#p909820Senders are all the same for any NB. That is 8A and 8B 5 or 6 Speed. Just swap cogs as required for the gearing, wheel and tyre setup.

ADM 10AE is 3.6 - slowpoke from CBR replaced his & had the original in his shed, which we checked, plus he got the ADM 10AE spec sheets from Mazda Australia which I posted on here & still have.

10AE specs threadYep. First page says 3.656. second page says 3.909 ...
The image quality is pretty poor, but that is what I see.

Ed you're right it does, but it also says Miata 10th Anniversary Edition as the second one is the US spec sheet not the Aust spec sheet. Aust spec sheet is the first one.

Next question, I've found 3x different sensors (and their Amayama price):
M52817400 (Yellow cog) $173.02
M52817400A (Yellow cog) $181.45
M53417400 (Red or White? cog) $216.16
M53317400 (Blue cog) $314.00 - NLA
Does anyone know what the difference is between the first 2 (A vs non A)? I have a feeling one is just the cog itself but don't want to make a $180 mistake.
Google is not coming up with much at all image wise to help.

Not sure how trustworthy my Google-fu is but this is what I can sort-of find online......
All are for the NB
M52817400 & M52817400A are for 1998-2000
M53417400 is for 2001-2003
M53317400 is the one you want for an SE ie. 2004-2005.....

IIRC, Boyracer posted info about the various sensors, but can't find it.

As long as M52817400 & M52817400A are actually the whole sensor, I’ll just buy the cheapest one and swap the cog over. Thanks for the link

So found the following info, I'll post it here for future searches. US based info but since the sensor bodies are all the same, you can just swap your original cog onto the new sensor and off you go.
M527-17-400A - 23-tooth, Green >> 5MT+4.3 (99-05)
M526-17-400A - 22-tooth, Red/Burgundy >> 5MT+4.3 (01-05)
M526-17-400A - 22-tooth, Red/Burgundy >> 5MT+4.1 (99-00 Euro market?)
M528-17-400A - 21-tooth, Yellow >> 6MT+4.1 (04-05, and 14" on Euro NB1s)
M528-17-400A - 21-tooth, Yellow >> 6MT+3.909 (99-00 Euro market?)
M534-17-400 - 20-tooth, White >> 6MT+3.909 (01-03)
M533-17-400A - 19-tooth, Blue >> 6MT+3.636 (Australia market only)
Down side is Amayama shows 4+ weeks for delivery of any of the above sensors and I need one now. MiataRoadster has the M533-17-400, will also be many weeks shipping but he has also put his shipping price up from when I bought one from him a few years ago, add in duties/GST when it arrives and it's not far off MX5Mania's M533-17-400A unit for $314.00 which I'll get overnight from Sydney.
Not cheap sensors if you need one asap.
