Grabbed an exhaust manifold gasket today as I just purchased a used set of headers that I intended to install today but ended up being washed out by rain. The gasket is a composite type but strangely two identical gaskets are in the package - do both get used or only one?

I believe it will be a multi-layer gasket and all layers are used (and normally joined together). If you actually have received 2 gaskets that's a win for you, but I doubt it.

Those dimpled gaskets are a single gasket, only one is used.

I think they've stuffed up and accidentally put two in.

Personally I prefer those style gaskets to the OEM steel ones (which are multiple layers)
the dimpled ones seal better and dont need the same 100% clean and dead flat surface that the OEM does. Even if there's a few small marks or a small warp the dimples ones will usually seal.
