What are the best extractors for NB 1.8

I am asking the question as to which brand of extractors work the best for a road going NB 1.8. I have noticed a few different brands available in Australia and I am sure there are some that have done testing to come up with the best performing available.

Alternatively just swap to NB8B (2000-on) headers. They flow as well as most aftermarket ones, they bolt on and fit well and they have all the proper heat shielding so you don't have to deal with all the hot spots you get inside the engine bay from unshielded extractors. They don't look as pretty as shiny new ones though.

^+1
But if you must have aftermarket, Racing Beat have a redesigned 4 into 1:

That is great manga_blue I am not after the bling just something that works. That is the beauty of a forum like this there is a wealth of knowledge on here. I am very pleased with the results of the first mod I have made to slot the crank timing plate to produce 6 more degrees of base timing. This mod has taken my base timing from 9 degrees to 15 degrees and the performance is very noticeable. I did find some info on dyno results and they state that there is a 5 horsepower increase and torque is improved as well ...

racing beat are around $900 locally.
unsure what it works out to be if you purchase & post from the USA.
RB has also just changed welding rods and there has been some shoddy work. Although this was with their muffler I'm unsure about if or not this has affected the headers.
I'm holding off until there is a resolution for RB backing up their product. Because most of it is because of their artwork welding.
https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=653901if they don't give a rats backside for US customers.....unlikely they will do any more for customers around the other side of the globe.

BTW a well designed exhaust system delivers much better power gains than headers on an MX5. Custom made exhausts by Town & Country in Geelong are pretty much the gold standard in exhausts in the southern states: performance, sound, durability.

just to repaeat what has been said.
a wise man once told me (insert Nitro Dann here) that the NB8B ones are as good as the aftermarket, you may see an extra 1hp from the expensive ones but thats an expensive pony. i assume that a fully worked race motor would benefit more from something such as racing beat.
as Manga_blue stated the big draw card is the heat shielding on the factory ones, i can vouch for the effort that Manga has put into shielding heat from his extractors.
im going to get a full system from Dann and it will have the NB8B manifold at the front, there was a set on gumtree about a month ago for $100 with the shields.
ill buy mine off Dann when i get my exhaust.

Agree with Manga on Town and Country- reasonable cost a little more power and a great note - so much better than standard.

So do Town & Country make there extractors or do they just buy them in and custom make the rest of the exhaust.
can't seem to find any NB8B exhaust manifolds for sale....I posted wanted add on MX5 Victoria/Tasmania club site.

its Cat back - I heard that there is nothing wrong with NB exhaust design/ execution before the Cat. PCMX5 on the forum knows about T&C and the development. Ring them and get some feedback.

T&C just do catbacks, that's where most of the power gains are.

As above, t&c use the existing extractors from factory.
The mx5 extractor design is actually fairly good from factory, not perfect, but still leaps am bounds over the ones found on the American models (they had a cast iron manifold, where we got the better tubular ones)
Good aftermarket ones can certainly be better, but as Dann said, its likely to only be a marginal improvement rather than night and day.

The only particularly good factory header is the 01+ (NB8B header)
Its not as good as a good cheap aftermarket set but thats only because they are welded internally. If you weld them on the outside then port them theyre even with basic aftermarket headers.

ok so the 01+ is the Ducks guts....
how does the 99-2000 compare to the 01 and an average set of headers
