NA6 / NA8 gearboxes – are they the same?

Postby Hoolio » Wed Nov 01, 2017 1:56 pm

If they are not the same, what are the internal differences?

And if they are not the same, how do I identify each from the outside?

I think the only difference is with the early NA6 gearboxes there is the danger of getting it stuck in reverse.
there is a fix with the reverse light switch being a bit different so the leavers doesn't get stuck behind the switch.

In the recall they marked the gearboxes which got stuck in reverse with some paiunt. I doubt that paint would still be there today.
you're not going to be able to tell one from the other

I have a NA8 gearbox in mine & couldn't tell the difference. Unless I was sold an NA6 box......

The other difference is that you may have a speedo switch for the wrong diff ratio
Satans Ride called F33nix the resurrected NA6
