pwm idle valve mk1

Postby Coote_00 » Thu May 18, 2017 4:14 pm

Idle valve only seems to work in test mode using tuner studio other wise idle sits up and using the test mode is the only way to control it any ideas
Cheers

assumption you have a mega squirt. NA6?

but youre going to have to be a little more specific....there is a number of things to adjust in closed loop idle

If you search on MT...you might also find that the idle valve works on 158mhz and acording to that OP this is confirmed..... but Ive also found it works on other settings

http://megamiata.blogspot.com.au/2016/07/closed-loop-idle-rev-22.html
I found that really useful

are you tuning in Open Loop?
have you got it to idle at all?

Hey mate thanks for quick reply yes it's a megasquirt.
Also it's open loop and yes it does idle just at 1800 or so I've checked for air leaks that seems all good only thing that seemed to make it better was running the test soon as I turn it off straight back to high idle and just so you know it's an auto ugh lol

Have you set the numbers for open & closed settings for the idle valve ? Or just used the basemap ones? Also be aware that there is the choice to use those numners inverted. Setting the numbets for the initial table
Is kind of important too. Id be inclined to start at the beginning

And yeah the only thing that seems to lower it is using that idle valve test it works fine also is tuning the idle different with an auto than it is with manual?

Describe what youve actually done. It seems that you do the idle test. Burn it? Then what ? There is a whole lot more.....to get it to idle exactly where you like. Do you write any numbers down? Do you put those numbersfrom the idle test like at 950rpm or 1100 anywhere?

No I haven't put numbers down anywhere else and when it burns it goes back to a high idle it only idles low when the test is actually running

You need to set everything else first. Read the above document. When you get to the valve test. Start with 20 or so. Idle should be really low. If its not, youre inverted. Wich ever way you choose to go. The 2 mumbers you come up with(low value& high value) in the test are the the ones you put in the closed loop idele setting
Othe numbers you should note are your target idle numbers. Go through the range & note them down. Mine were 950, 1100 1200, whatever number you get during the idle test is tbe value you use in the coresonding spot in tbe initial idle table.
Just follow tbe instructions of the above blog

Yeah im not sure lol 99% of things are for manuals but I can't see it making to much of a diffence with an auto
