Stant thermostat, no breather hole

Hi, I bought a gates stant 180 thermostat, and it doesn't have the breather hole on it, i know the breather hole is meant to be positioned at the top when installing, but I have no idea which way I am meant to put this one in without the breather on it. Can anyone tell me how I should install it

So I've finallay found the breather hole on the thermostat, I'm planning on putting it in today, but the hole isn't at the top centre position, it is off to the side, here's a pic
So do I install it with the breather at the top centre or is it meant to be installed with the breather of to the side

Personally I'd drill that hole out to 3-0-3.5mm. The hole has a serious function in thermostat operation. It lets a little bit of coolant flow over the thermostat coils while things are still warming up - just enough so that you don't get a pool of cold coolant trapped around the thermostat while the rest of the cooling system starts to boil. It's important on a standard MX5 cooling setup where the thermostat is housed a reasonable distance fom the engine itself.

Thanks, though I ended up buying another one, I got the high flow tridon thermostat also rated at 180, and it also has the jiggle pin up top

I agree fully,, I always drill 3 x 3mm holes in thermostats in cars that are going to do track work. I've never had an overheating issue in my car, not even in the 300 km races and don't run a coolant bypass kit either.
