I.L. Motorsport Oil cooler / Fan set installation

Postby tomli123001 » Mon Jun 27, 2016 1:02 pm

Came across this today. Seems really impressive and alternative to oil cooler install location instead of steering column/behind fog light.

I guess most race cars do not have air con.
By the way, can air cond work without 2nd fan? My new Fiesta ST only has 1 fan behind the radiator and of course being a new car, it has AC running very well.

Hard to tell from that, but it looks like half the radiator is seriously/moderately obstructed by that panel and the oil cooler. Not good.

Feeding the oil cooler hot air is going to hurt heat rejection from the oil. Not good.

Oil cooler with a direct feed of cold (ambient) air may be a bit old-fashioned, but it seems like a good plan to me. There are some great installations using the nosecone and wheel well if you look around.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)
