na6 fuel pump install - quick q

I will give some background on my build thread..but the short of it is, my fuel pump has died again and I just want to clarify how to install the new one.

This na6 has a large tube that the fuel pump pushes into with a o-ring.
It is a bit tricky getting the o-ring to sit correctly while the pump is being pushed in.

I'm thinking of hacking off the large diameter pipe and just using fuel hose as per other installs.

What does others do? I searched and found a few installs but they didnt have the o-ring tube.

Hi.
Put the o ring in the freezer overnight should then be ok. A small amount of lubricant on the pump and it should slide straight in. (oh what have I said!)

thanks for the thought- (thats what she said)
I think i should be able to get it in there ok but it just seems like a half-arsed way to seal it.

Other mx5s seem to have a short length of fuel hose with two clamps. Unsure if I should butcher this one to make it a pipe join to avoid possible pressure loss from around the o-ring after if moves or shrinks. (maybe im just being paranoid and the o-ring is fine)

This how other peoples fuel pump looks--why does mine have the 'push-in' type.

Hi.
Me again. Do a search for fuel pump installation. Mitch f1 has a very good post regarding this and his set up is the same as yours. Enjoy.

Just a followup.

Turns out the pump wasn't the fault but this is how I mounted the new pump:

So, hacksaw off the o-ring holder. Used new fuel hose cut length ways to rubber mount and a stainless hose clamp.

For anyone else paranoid about the o-ring not sealing this is a solution.

BTW Be careful which plastic strainer you use -see my build thread.
