10-40 is the normal oil for NA/NB, but they can take a decent range of viscosities(sp?) (the manual lists them)

As for the Royal Purple vs Penrite. Penrite is good stuff, also locally owned (and made to my knowledge) so supports Aussie jobs etc.

Ignoring all that, as far as i'm concerned there's no point in spending stupid amounts on oil as long as you change it often. 5,000km is often.

I'd just go the Penrite, save the $20 and buy a 6 pack.

Bear in mind though you'll now have another 100 responses telling you to use every brand of oil under the sun, and why.

as long as it's a decent trusted brand, you'll be fine to use either (it's not like it's "black and gold" brand unknown gunk)

Penrite also make 10 Tenths Racing 10 which is a 10W-40, if you'd prefer that

Cheers

Penrite still has a highish zinc content which is good for wear reduction. Overseas oils have reduced or eliminated zinc because it poisons the cats. That's a bigger issue for countries in Europe and the US. One day our legislators will do the same here but until then I'll continue to use Penrite in preference to the imported stuff. And the 15/50 weight is better for our climate than the 10/40 of the RP. If we had cold extremes like Europe or north US then the lighter weight oils have their benefits.

I use Penrite exclusively in all three of our cars (NC MX-5, Mazda6, BMW E30) and my daughter's BJ2 Astina.

Thanks for that. Will be spending several hundred dollars with Repco tomorrow if that's right.
