Normal vs se (mazdaspeed) engine mounts

I've read that they slightly raise the engine higher. Is this the case and by how much?
Thinking of replacing my standard ones to se ones with the added benefit of raising the exhaust ever so slightly where it touches the bracing below.

I put them in my old car and never noticed any height difference.

No height difference outside of normal manufacturing tolerances to my knowledge.
if your current ones are rooted and the rubber has gone funny, then thye might raise the engine a little, but no more than just using new mounts.
If you need a few mm of clearance for an exhaust, and don't want to bend the exhaust (my recommended method) you can add a few washers to the existing engine mounts to lift the engine a little.

I have just fitted the Mazda competition mounts and my mechanic said the engine is sitting higher than previously. Old mounts were 15 years old though.

Thanks guys,
Verne, are they ( the mounts) from mania?
I was looking on there eBay listing for them and it says to be wary cause the lift the engine slightly higher.

How are you finding the Mazda competition mounts? I was looking at fitting a set in my SP.

the difference between the mounts is surely going to be in the composition of the rubber i.e. a different spec. Presumably a road car has a mount which is effective at minimising NVH whereas a competition mount is less concerned about comfort but more about movement of an engine which is exposed to greater forces over a shorter time.

There's discussions over on the Big Forum about fitting these stiffer mounts to N/A cars and the added vibration. The gains (improved shift quality is mentioned) appear to offset any minor negative.

Hi Dennis,
I bought mine in the US. I have not noticed much difference in vibration or shift quality but have only drĂven the car maybe 50km since fitting tham. Yet to take it in the track. The SS in a couple of weeks will be the first outing. Not sure if the SE ones are the same as what they refer to as competion mounts from 949 and Good Win.

SE ones are about 35% stiffer, whereas the 949 & Goodwin comp mounts are about 40% stiffer:
