Anyone here welded their diff for track or drifting?
Is it recommended? (I want to go down a drifitng path with the mx5)
Any issues associated with it?
Thanks in advance!

Fine for track. Illegal for road use though.

It can be faster but requires higher driving skills.

Mine is welded and it probably costs me time, but all the tame racing drivers it will help.

It is cheaper, a full legit spool will be better again, save some weight and be stronger.

It will remove any difference in wheel speed, so no inner wheel spinning ever.

But, a weldy can also encourage understeer since the lack of wheel speed difference can try to push the rear in a striaght line while the front wheels try to turn the car.

Clutch pack diffs can also do this, but by their nature they can unlock under certain circumstances (depending on setup etc)

Basically, you'd be better with a clutch pack LSD, but a weldy is cheaper.
