X-Force 4-2-1 NB8A

Hey guys!

I recently purchased a new set of X-Force 4-2-1 headers, and I'm just about ready to install them, but I figured it would be best to get some advice first.
I have an NB8A, and it doesn't look like the EGR system is the same on each set of headers (stock vs x-force). I assume that the only way to fit these headers is to buy an EGR delete kit (http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=4535&parentid=0&stocknumber=04-70000) and remove the pipe, and then find some way to seal the EGR outlet on the X-Force headers themselves?

Well, I went to AA engineering in Bayswater, and the Bayswater bolt shop, and neither of them could figure out what thread the damn thing takes! It's roughly 7/8ths of an inch or 22mm, but neither place could find the right thread! Anyone know what thread this is?

Also, is it worth it to let an exhaust place install these? Asking price for the installation is $300 at my local... It can't be THAT hard to get them in, right?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

$300 could really depend on the hourly rate, and if they have to muck around fitting something that you already have outlined issues with (ie what do I do with EGR pipe etc) I can see them thinking - here we go, 4 hours down the tube mucking about with this part that doesn't fit, and we'll have to install, uninstall and ring around trying to find extra bits etc.

If you can be very specific about what you want, then maybe it would take 1 hour, but like all things - it would depend on how well it goes. An option I often have done is agree a rate to pay, and then ask if it is ok to watch them install it... if they are reasonable they will be ok and you'll see what's involved and how long it took... it is is just an hour, then all is good, if not, then you can see why it costs $300

I had my x force headers installed into my NB8a with the egr from the OEM headers. Along with 200 cell cat, resonator. I supplied my cat headers and resonator.

It does appear that there is an attachment SIMILAR to the EGR outlet in the X-Force manifold, but it could be slightly smaller in the stock manifold (and on a slightly different angle)

If I plug the hole in the header, I'll have a tiny pipe hanging around feeling lonely, and giving passage into the manifold/block (hard to see where it goes)

that is what most exhaust places would do with a clue. the the bit off you need from the stock headers. drill a hole in the new headers and weld.

if someone doesn't wanna pay $300, then i'd suggest learning to weld.
