Replaced gearbox oil, put in nulon about 300ks ago and was flat out getting it into 2nd and would crunch 3rd ( I've drĂven manuals for 40 years) replaced it with Redline Mt- 90 wow what a Huge difference, very smooth changing now. Certainly recommend this oil for 6 speeds.

Yeah, bought my Redline from Bursons at Carrum some years ago, but I believe it's cheaper on ebay, or from some retailers that also usually (or used to) sell on ebay:

Hey all,
I have just bought an 2000 NB 6spd.
I have changed all the oils on weekend. But I have noticed even from first picking up the car, basically impossible to change from 3 back to second when cold without a proper double clutch, even then a slight crunch. Also it is stiff and rough into third also when cold.
I am running Nulon full synthetic 75w90 with the g70 friction modifier in it.
Usually great oil as I have used I in other cars..
Problem goes away when gearbox is warm, still a touch stiff into third, but second appears to clear up.
Hope I can clear it up... BRILLIANT car otherwise. Really annoying while on warm up though.
Cheers in advance.

I had the same problem until I used redline.

I have 2006 NC 6 Speed and like some others have experienced the notchiness and the occasional difficulty changing gears. I tried some Penrite stuff and while it improved it I still wasn't completely happy.
The recommendation on the big forum in the US is to use the Ford Synthetic XT-M5-QS Gear Oil but it's not available locally or so I thought. After a lot of research I came across this Product from Ford Australia which matches the same WSD-M2C200-C specification as the US Ford Product. It's a 75W-90 spec so it matches the OE requirements for NC.
As the fill capacity is 2.1 litres I purchased 3 x 1 litre bottles Part No R1426 1L from Ford and completed the change today.
Initial impressions are very good, I like the smoothness and shift feel.
Time will tell if this product provides the same feel and smoothness the US sourced product is famous for.

For those who may be interested the MSDS is from Castrol. Google R1426 MSDS.

Amsoil MTG also works as well as the redline I found. I've used penrite, Royal purple and a castrol gearbox oil and only the Redline/Amsoil didn't cause hesitant cold shifts.
