CAI Wheel Arch Location NB

Apologies if this has been done to death already - happy to be directed to the right thread if someone knows where it is (I've searched).

My NB turbo has it's intake piping routed through a hole in the frame just behind the passenger side headlight that places the pod filter below the headlight and inside the space between the plastic wheel arch liner and the bumper. If you look up through the downward facing venting in the front of the liner, you're looking at the filter.

I imagine it's cooler there than elsewhere on the car, but I suspect it also becomes quite damp in the rain or very dusty in the event of an off-track excursion (in a sand/gravel trap for example).

Does anyone have any real world experience with this intake/filter location?

Cheers!

best place for it. it's away from the engine heat and is protected directly from water and debris.

yep, exactly what I have on my track car. Been like this for four years. Nice cool ambient air, rather than hot engine bay air.. (I also have a hole drilled in the front bumper that feeds it air)

Mine doesn't do many (almost nil) road kms though so removing it and cleaning it every few months means it doesn't get very dirty between cleans.
