Cold. I doubt hot is worth trying anyway.

Not good. I'm hoping it's just a stuck valve.

Doesn't sound good mate, hope its a simple and cheap-ish fix.

Hopefully it is something like just a stuck or even a burnt valve.

And to think, you just completed 1800+ kms over a few days flawlessly!

Keep us updated.

One of the worst suggestions I'd ever heard came in today. Pour half a litre of oil down the spark plug hole and see how fast it rose on the dipstick.

I am still trying to figure how this might ever work?

0 compression is a HUGE leak if its a piston it will run straight through into the sump.

Maybe use one of these for a quick look at the piston top?

I don't have time it pull the head yet but one of the better suggestions from the locals was to rotate to TDC on the compression stroke and put air at 10-20psi down the plug hole. If it comes out the inlet then there's probably a dropped inlet valve. If it comes out the exhaust then there's probably a burnt exhaust valve. If it comes out the dipstick then there's a burnt piston.

My money is on a burnt exhaust valve. While I was trying to figure it out I tried cleaning the injectors. Number 2 injector was mostly blocked by white soft waxy stuff. The rest were OK. I think I bought bad fuel at Newcastle then drove 400kms on cruise control with that cylinder running lean.

The reason I didn't was that I didn't want to spend my weekends trying to work out why my engine blew up.
