http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131003323958 ... 1439.l2649I've bought one of these. It fits my original remote body but won't start the car. Does anybody know if I can program it or how I find and swap the transponder chip from the old blade to the new one. Thanks

There's a sequence to program the chip yourself but you need to have at least 2 other keys already.
Getting a key programmed from Mazda can be very expensive .. and even more expensive from Subaru (yes have been burnt TWICE).

The blade you've linked to doesn't include a transponder chip.
You either need to buy the correct chip and programme it to the ECU yourself, or open up the plastic heads of one of your old keys and reuse the chip.

I did the same on the wifes 3. She snapped the flip housing so I bought a new one from a local locksmith and swapped the her key blade and chip into it.
The chip was glued very firmly into the original flip housing and in the end I hade to shave the plastic housing away with a razor blade to remove the little ceramic like chip from it.
A massive PITA to do but if the housing is broken again it will be easier to swap due to less glue when I put it all back together.
Have fun.

Bugger, I broke the chip. Any recommendations for a locksmith in Sydney I can take my car to? Mazda want stupid money.
