Hi guys, temp gauge went to about 3/4 high on my drive into work. Pulled over let it cool and drive again yet quickly it went up again. The car owes me a shitload (like many) and last week I've had a new long nose installed with a new water pump and thermostat. 1 month prior to that I installed a new radiator too. Also there's a new fan switch to ensure the fan comes on. It does but doesn't seem to be coming on when the car is at high temp though. I have disconnected the power steering and ac belt and when the ac button is switched on both fans are running. Even with both fans running (I know one is for ac only) it is still running hot. The cluster had been swapped out as it was thought it had a faulty gauge however it's still happening.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Kinda lost and a little scared of another hole in the pocket.

What do you mean by temp gauge? Is it the one on the cluster? That is coolant temperature, not engine bay temp. When was your last service? Did you use coolant mix with still water or just still water? I am talking NB by the way, not sure NA.

Did you flush the system? When I bought my car the temp gauge went thermal the first good drive I had, turned out the cooling system was 75% blocked. A good flush fixed the problem.

Happens at speed then won't come down on idle. Temp stays at 3/4 high.
Have not checked the wiring and it has no undertray. Will get onto that stuff tomorrow. Coolant has had a complete flush.

Thinking it's the temp sensor at the front of the engine.

Hope the head gasket is ok on the new engine, is the thermostat working fine?

Yeah dude, said ill be looking into it tomorrow . I have one stored away somewhere. Didn't realise they were that important. Cheers for the heads up guys.
Also Okibi, I thought the temp sensor was at the back of the engine?

Thermostat is new. Will inspect it tomorrow too. I was told the head gasket is fine.

I've been running without the under tray for the last month and have not noticed any increases in temp. Having said that I would still install it just to eliminate this.

Hope undertray sorts it, especially after it overheated the day you picked it up from the workshop just before Xmas & upon return they replaced a few other things:
