Hello all,

Can someone recommend me a better flowing intake for my 1.6, I have seen one where it seems to take air from up near the fire wall with some sort of extension housing.

Just want the best one for the money and the best one for any sort of performance gain.

Cheers

Hello,
On a previous NB i had a cold air intake system fitted by The MX-5 Factory in Ringwood Victoria. It was one of their own breed - and went through the firewall. An excellent quality device, and with the cat back exhaust made a little more power. The growl it produced was excellent -
Maybe get in contact and see what they have, sorry i can't remember how much it cost ( it was four MX-5s ago ).
Cheers -

There are a few options however none of the common ones will produce any real gains, nothing more than a couple hp at best.

They sound amazing though and in conjunction with a good exhaust and tune are well worth it for mild gains.

MX5 Mania or Loch Stewart (MkII) CAI fits your criteria better than the MX5 Factroy CAI.

Cold air duct through the firewall works well. If you don't want to cut holes, look at the intakes that they use in Spec Miata - a long duct to a pod in the corner of the engine bay.

Cowl intake well worth it for sound alone.
