This is my mx5 first clutch install, what a b@&$) compared to a hj sandman!
Clutch is in as is new slave and braided line bled up ok, issue is it sounds like grinding metal and when clutch pedal is depressed the car stall and sounds like massive grinding, sounds like thrust bearing, but all new pbr heavy duty clutch kit and machined fly
Any suggestions, it sounds like its gotta come out again

It has to come out again.
That's my best advice, even if I could give an accurate diagnosis you are only going to find it within 30 seconds of pulling it out again.

The thrust bearing supplied with the clutch is smaller than the pressure plate finger diameter and the thrust bearing housing not the bearing race was hitting the pressure plate,
this was a packaged kit from Clutch industries, RPM 1186 N worth while checking the clutch plate and thrust match before installing,
no chance of getting a replacement today
Dann, Thank you for your wisdom

Good work ethic just getting in there and doing it.
It's very common to be given incorrect spigot and thrust bearings with clutches. They dont typically come as a kit, in the shop they grab a clutch plate and pressure plate and go to a wall of bearings with little tubs and labels and grab the right one, there is a lot of room for error with this system.
