Hi all,

I currently own an NB8A, only modification I have made is a MX5MANIA CAI, I'd love to put a full exhaust system on it - however I am wondering if any quiet systems exist? (maybe only slight louder then stock if at all?)

As the car is daily driver and I leave early in the mornings and return home late at night I can't really have anything loud (my previous car, a 1.8 DOHC with a full 2" system got some complaints).

As after attending an MX5 cruise the NB's with exhaust systems seem extremely loud.

Albeit not 'road legal' I believe a universal Xforce Varex system could potentially be an option?

the T&C system ( Geelong) - catback is not noisy- sporty but not offensive.

An option is to have an exhaust shop remove the resonator/muffler from the midpipe.

Apparently (and it's a big apparently, since I've not heard it in person) it adds a little bit more noise, but not too much, since the main muffler remains as per the factory.

Why do you want an exhaust? Most people want either noise or power. You won't have a massive improvement power wise if that's all you want.

Removing the middle resonator/muffler will make it a little louder however it will most likely introduce a rasp to the sound.

talk to a exhaust shop. lots of options with mufflers that will fit the bill. just pick the correct one for the application.
