Cant get Reverse on 6 speed box, Help please

Has anybody else had this problem before? I think it might be the reverse lock out pin that keeps spinning around on its guide within the box.

Any suggestions

Does anybody have any 6 speed parts or do I just get a complete second hand box?

i know in the 5 speed you leave it in neutral, then put it into 5th then go into reverse from there.

try that.

On my 5 speed you can't go straight from 5th to neutral, I thought thats when the lockout was active...

Is your clutch fully disengaging? That can make it extremely difficult to get into gear but especially reverse as it doesn't have synchro.

Loosing reverse on the 6 speed was an issue when mechanics remove the wrong bolt from the gear box when they do an oil change.

Has anyone messed with the gearbox?

yeah have you had a recent oil change?

they could have pulled the wrong bolt..if so its a gearbox out job

That's not normal, you should be able to go from any gear directly to neutral, at any time.

I go from 5th directly to neutral then 4th every time I'm slowing down from highway speeds.

oh yeah, sorry i meant you go from 5th to reverse as you would from any other gear.

5th neutral then reverse.

it usually open its up for me if it gets sticky.

I have got the gearbox apart at the moment and can see the reverse lock out. No it's not a problem to do with an oil change as I do that myself. The main reason I lost reverse is because I accidentally forced the shifter passed the lock out for reverse when trying to change to 6 th gear at 155 km/h

is it NOT staying IN GEAR? (like if u HOLD it in REVERSE forcefully with your hand, does it work?)
^^ if this is the case, take it to a local mechanic or gearbox shop, it is an easy fix. I've SEEN IT been done before.

If it's the other way round and not going in, then unfortunately could be a number of things. Depending on how much u find the 2nd hand box for it's probably the best option. Unless you can open the box yourself etc.
