Clutch issue - air in line

A few weeks ago I noticed that the clutch pedal had become spongey. There was a bit of fluid in the slave cylinder boot, I bought a rebuild kit from mx5parts UK. Fitted it and bled the system. Clutch still spongey, so I bought a complete slave cylinder, and bled the system. Still spongey.

So I had the lovely Jennifer assist me yesterday by pumping the clutch pedal while I watched the bleed tube. Waited until the bigger bubbles were cleared, although there was a constant supply of smaller bubbles. I put a whole bottle of fresh Castrol Dot 4 through the clutch system. While the pedal is better, the pressure will drop if I hold my foot on the pedal for any length of time.

I think I might have a air leak in the system somewhere?

Any thoughts from the forum?

J.

Check all the places it has a join (clutch master, slave, lines between)

Check the bleed nipple is tightened properly.

Check soft lines (can't remember if the clutch has any soft lines)

When you crack the nipple it should come out in a solid stream.

Might be time for a new master cylinder or a kit if available.
