Chirp coming from intake

Hi all,
I picked myself up a Auto Exe Carbon Fibre Ram Air intake for my NB8B, fitted it up all good.

Problem I'm having is as you get on the throttle, the intake lets out a loud chirp. I removed the intake looking for air leaks and tried it with just a pod filter I had here.... Same chirp.... Tried it with no filter, just the 90deg bend from the throttle body with the MAF attached, same chirp.

Is it a normal MX5 thing or is it my MAF?

Thanks
Paul

Will grab a video of it tomorrow. Only lasts a half a second. Happens if you open the throttle suddenly, not if opened slowly.

No, definately a wind noise.

I've got the same thing on my NA8, it only started after removing the airflow meter. My current theory is it is something to do with the idle control valve and the removal of the AFM made the flow path clear enough to hear it - but I haven't spent a lot of time investigating.

Check the hose running from the cam cover to the intake, could it be sucking in any air though there?

Any photos of the engine bay?

it's normal to get these kind noises when you open up the intake system. whistles and thuds from the IAC openning and closing. rushing water noises from air rushing past near closed butterflys etc. if the noise ain't there with the stock airbox and intake/resisnator attacked, then it is fine.

No problem with the noose between the rocker cover and the intake, intact and sealed well.

It does the noise with no filter and just the MAF connected to the pipe.

Well try and get a video off it today, what's the easiest way of publishing that? Youtube?

I'm thinking you could be right. Might try adjusting it slightly. From memory don't you need to bridge two points points in the diagnostics port to adjust it correctly?

Could you disconnect the EGR to test without any consequences? Does anyone know if the EGR is closed by default? You might need to reset an error code.
