Diff Conversion Checklist

Hey Guys,

In the next couple of weeks, I'm going to be performing a diff conversion on my NA6.
I'll be installing a Torsen 2 inside an NB6 housing and have not decided on shafts yet.

I have helped bensale change an NA6 diff for another NA6 diff before but have never installed something bigger into the car.

Apart from the obvious of swapping everything over, is there anything that would possibly come up as a challenge? Things that come to mind are things like removing half shafts, wheel bearings etc.

I'm going to be doing this in a shed with plenty of tools and stands. Also, I should note that the new diff will already be completely assembled with backlash preset etc.

Thanks.

Only hard part on my car was the hub nuts.

If they've not been removed before, they'll be ungodly tight.

The PPF bolts are apparently pretty tight too, but I never had an issue removing mine (granted...... mine fell out though :P)

Let me know if you need a hand.

Thanks Nik.

I would have thought that bolts to be a challenge. I'll see how Toby and I go with them.

In regards to wheel bearings, are they usually attached to the half shaft already? Or will I need to buy new ones?

Pretty sure the bearings are separate to the shaft (they can be replaced without having to replace the shaft)

With the hub nuts, maybe give them a spray with WD40, CRC or something similar the day before. It should soak in and help un-stick them.
