NC stock air filter

Postby kris » Wed Mar 13, 2013 8:20 pm

Hi all,
I need a new air filter for my nc. Last time i i paid $70 bucks at the dealer. I don't want to do that again. So pleae advise...
I thought about getting the AEM or RB CAI, but it looks like you don't get any worthwhile performance gain even with a tune. So i think ill keep the stock intake with panel filter and then get the tune.

I think ill use disposable filters and not worry about cleaning the same filter like the K&N. (Buy the time you buy the K&N and cleaning products then risk not cleaning well, over oiling etc, i reckon im better off getting multiple disposable filters)

Can anyone comment on these blueprint filters ?

Otherwise their is mx5parts, goodwin, oem all much more expensive. Or any other options?

Cheers
kris

Kris,

Before I went AEM CAI, I had the K & N panel filter in the stock air box.
I don't think it's the "add oil" type filter.
As for cleaning I just threw it into a bucket of hot soapy water and washed it out.

I never had any issues with it and before anyone asks, no, there's no improvement in performance.

I bought mine from the US at https://onlinemazdaparts.com/

Genuine Air Filter was $26.14
Genuine Oil Filter only $6.33 - I bought 2 at that price
plus a few other items.
freight was $60.00 but if you need to order a few items you get big savings.

if you can get the KnN filter at a resonable price why not. I have a KnN filter in my Racing Beat intake and it is also the non oil type ( just wash in soapy water as CB said)

Luke, I buy Wesfil air filters P/N WA5091 at a fraction of the OEM price.
I wouldn't mind betting they are suppliers of the OEM filters.
