Early B6t, super rich at idle, TPS?
No, its not an MX5, but I'm putting it here anyway!
The B6t in my KE Laser runs very rich at idle... I've attempted to adjust the TPS, which is just a switch, but it seems it could be faulty.
Will the B6t run rich at idle if the TPS isn't working? if so, how rich? I've left numerous black ash/condensation marks on driveways and walls, and it seems people don't appreciate it much?
thanks!

Would measuring the injector duty cycle at idle, with and without the TPS shorted out give me a reasonable indication of how rich its running?

Don't know about the B6T, but the above isn't uncommon for the B6, at least in the NA6.

Is it rich idle or just rich all over that leave carbon in the exhaust and it just looks worse at idle as the water actually condenses at idle carrying the carbon out with it?

hard to tell how rich it looks when driving, but I dont think its overly bad...
Issue is, the ECU that came with the engine and wiring has had basically all idle compensation and emissions wiring removed...
If it is running rich at all revs, why would it be?

Factory tune on the non turbo was known to be reasonably rich.... So might be same story.

Its all pretty much hit a brick wall anyway...
Had to remove the FMIC to fit the extra radiator fans for the aircon, can still refit the FMIC...
But I also had to remove the radiator, and discovered the top outlet is snapped in half... but then, the radiator hose really can't possibly fit with the air con compressor mounted to the block... which was the entire reason I mounted the extra fans!

Is that from one startup or from many with the car in the same spot?

So driveway was previously not blackened & that's what's pumping out after one startup & idle for 10 minutes? I assume there was some revving given the long plume?
Anyhow, that's way more than I've seen from an NA6 B6.

from memory I revved it once.
car is actually on ramps in the pic, so the front was about 30cm higher than normal...
not the point!
that's pretty much what comes out the back at idle... lol

spent half an hour scrubbing the black marks off the drive way and wall...
I've ordered an Innovate MTX-L, so I'll see what that says.

it will say 9:1 but that wont help diagnose the problem.
Do you have real engine management?
