Long story short,

I have a MS2 coming, i am going to delete the 1.6 throttle body and Flyin Miata spacer as i now have a 1.8 TB with a variable TPS.

I know the NA8 Intake pipe will not work with a 1.6 thermostat housing and coolant hose.
I have a coolant reroute to go on the car and will be blocking off the Front thermostat housing with a plate.

My question is, does anyone know if the NA8 OEM INTAKE PIPE will then fit?

It will be ohh so easy for me to just get hold of that pipe if it does.
I will just tap it for the IAT sensor and be ready to go while looking quite neat.

If it will not work, i assume then i would need to go to the effort of changing the thermostat housing to a NA8.
Would like to avoid this for now.

Can't answer that, but get an NB8 intake pipe with the Helmholz resonator attached as they flow better than the NA8 intake pipe with the Helmholz. Reason is that the NA8 pipe is flatten to accommodate the radiator hose, whereas the NB8 pipe retains is size like those enlarged aftermarket chrome pipes.

If the NB8B resonator is as large as the NA6 one it's going to be incredibly annoying to wedge it in there.

From memory the NA6 Helmholz resonator might be larger. Had an NB8B one in my NA8 no probs for about 5 years. The one without the resonator will work, but may not flatten out the minor mid range torque dip, which the resonator addresses.

Yes, & correct there's no additional hose fitting on the NB8B intake pipe, at least, to go to the base of the TB. But all you have to do is put a T junction into the cam cover breather pipe, which attaches midway on the intake pipe, & run a pipe from there suitably adapted to couple with the larger diameter TB base hose.

Ah, that would explain it.

I've not seen an NB8B resonator, but I've seen the NA one and couldn't comprehend why it was so large and unweildy.

Still wondering if losing the front coolant hose but retaining the 1.6 Thermostat Housing with a blank off plate will allow a NA8 intake pipe with resonator to fit?

I'd say if you're retaining the NA6 neck, thermostat housing, & coolant temp sensor (which sits on top), & blanking off forward of that, then you need to test fit. Reason for the NA6 intake crosspipe going underneath (& NA8 & NB8 going over the top) was the different design of the respective necks etc, i.e. the NA8 neck & thermostat housing (which is on the end of the neck with no coolant temp sensor, versus the NA6 thermostat housing which is on top of the neck with a coolant temp sensor on top again).
