Hi all,

I have an issue with my fuel pump. I cant get it to work. I checked fuses in the engine bay and under the dash.
My markings are alll in Japanese and I dont have a manual. Which one is for the fuel pump, please?
Why are there 4 wires going to the pump?

Does anyone have a diagramm, manual or book on repairs that I can borrow or download from somewhere, please?

Wiring diagrams:
http://neomiata.com/garage/index.php

Manuals:
http://www.mellens.net/mazda/

There are 4 wires going into the tank because 2 go to the pump & 2 go to the fuel level sender unit.

Check that this isn't the problem:

Bear this in mind re the filter sock:

Hi all,

Ok-found fuel pump rooted and replaced with a repco one. Swapped fuel filter, as well (they had a 20% off sale) :D
Swapped out the NGKs but now there is no spark :-(
What are the usual suspects? Had a look at the Computer in the footwell as it was kinda moist in therewhen I got the car but looked dry and good?
Any help would be much aporeciated......

have you checked the fuel pump relay?

Ignition coil pack might be fried, leads faulty?

thats only two things I can think off...

Hi there,

Fuel pump is pumping so the relais should be ok, no?
How do you test the coils? Does someone in Melbourne have a spare set I can borrow?
I downloaded a manual frim the Kiwi forum but its password protected :-(

While it's possibly a coincidence that this has occurred immediately following the work you've undertaken, there's also a good chance that you've disturbed something or even inadvertently disconnected something, so if you haven't already, then retrace your steps.

See ampz's post for possibles:

Hi all,

Eureka! Shes a runnin!

Borrowed an OBD II analyzer from a friend on the way from work and hooked it up. Since the battery was flat for a long time I thought it wouldnt find any faults anywho.
Tried to read the fault memory several times but didnt work.
Me think ƒü¢k this, lets crank it and see what happens: e voila, starts first go!!!!
Rough sounding and reluctant to rev up, but running.
Checked heater and A/C hot and ice cold, beutiful. Idle went realy low but didnt stall. Very noisy tappets and slight leak from the water thermostat and maybe a slight leak from the header or just the cone filter making a noise couldn't quite see as was dark already.
Hooked the scanner back up and came up with TDC sensor fault.

Lets see what happens tomorrow, but so far I am happy.

Big thank you to everyone who offered help and assistance.

Great to hear it's running.

Just for info, in Australia 1989 NA6 to 2002 NB8B MX5s are OBDI, while 2002 NB8C onwards are OBDII. My understanding the is the P3 revision (see VIN) was the change over point.

Btw, OBDII was introduced in August 1995 production of the JDM Eunos Roadster.
