When my aircon compressor kicks in engine revs increase about 150 RPM at idle and both fans kick in at full tilt as well , they then cycle on and off, I presume as required , in stop start traffic they are buisier then a working girl on payday and it is all somewhat noticable..
There seems to be no two speed to fans , just wallop --on .
When my aircon is off only the engine fan cycles (as per normal) , the aircon fan is dormant.
Should both fans kick in and operate like this ?
Aircon ,cooling fan/fans ? NA6

It's all normal, that's how they work.

Run it with the bonnet up and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from, fans or compressor.
If the compressor is brand new it's unlikely to be it, it may be the fans' bearings or something.
The a/c in my NB doesn't make any loud noises, just a mild hum and some extra drone from the exhaust due to the engine load.

It's the damned compressor thats noisy, it's a new DENSO made in Japan ,when it cycles in it sounds as though its straining , it may quiten' down when it's done a bit of work ?
I'm taking the car to an aircon mob who specialise in Mazda and Ford tomorrow, for all I know this might be how it would sound if it was an OE factory fit , I've never been in another NA6 with atrcon so I've nothing to make a direct comparison with.
It's not noticable so much when driving but when it's cycling in and out in heavy traffic or at lights , lets just say --you can't miss it.
Come to think of it I used to have a female companion like this-------
