just casually browsing ebay and came across this.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXEDY-A-E-CL ... 231f9a155aad states it's a HD pressure plate with an organic clutch disc.
seems pretty cheap to me, perhaps a scam?
either way, in-case anyone's interested!

That's the Exedy OEM spec MX5 clutch. I only recently pulled one exactly like this out of a car, clutch had done 120K kms and still looked new. Car was unmodified and drĂven relatively gently but I was still impressed with the excellent condition of the clutch.
Looks like a pretty good price, but no reason to believe it's not legit. After all, it isn't a high-performance kit, just an OEM replacement.

Assuming the pic is the exact item for sale..... I have a feeling it's a stock image.
The Exedy Sport-Tuff (HD) is looks identical to the OEM kit, the friction plate looks 100% the same (I'm quite sure it's the same clutch plate whether it's Exedy OEM or Heavy Duty)
The pressure plate is apparently where the difference is, it's supposedly got a higher clamp load than the one provided with the OEM kit.

these clutches are readily available in Au. No warranty will apply if you do happen to get a dud and its in the car- Exedy here would require proof of pur in Au. If someone wanted to buy a clutch locally try and get a trade price and compare to US. $50 or so seems pretty cheap for freight Like everything just bench mark and consider comparing apples and apples. Some identical items certainly can offer a saving.

I have an Exedy OEM clutch kit in my NA8 since engine was rebuilt in March this year. I didnt want a HD clutch. With non-lightened flywheel, i think feel is excellent. Cant speak for longevity. I got mine from miatamecca (ebay store) for around $200 or something so this seems a good price if they have good ebay feedback.

The Exedy HD has a PINK pressure plate.
http://www.exedy.com.au/HeavyDutyClutchKit.aspxWhich is what I have in mine (complete with a photo to prove it)
It has a lighter pedal pressure than the OEM which is achieved at the expense of a slightly longer pedal travel.
Done 8k Km and it has bedded in nicely.

eBay ad seems cheap because it is not an Exedy kit, just the cover, using a different brand disc.
Recently supplied a NA6 kit for $187 incl GST and freight to Victoria from here in Sydney.
More than happy to talk clutches with anyone in the market, a few people have enquired after I mentioned I could help in an earlier thread. I put bare minimum margins on my company's account pricing x exedy, and has proven to be quite competitive, but it is a skinny game where there might be $10 difference between suppliers.

refer Smokinscottys post -there are lots of shonks on e bay- nice spot the flaw. A mate bought a ext hard drive to store a lot of photos- it crashed and lost a history he cannot get back. It turned out to be new case and second hand guts- great saving! Mechanics deal with reputable suppliers and get real Exedy clutches- I can drive 5 mins or walk 20 to my local ABS who stock and order in Exedy and the price you get you can benchmark. I chose a standard Exedy sometime ago ( done 60000 or so) and was told the HD clutch was heavier- that makes sense to me as one would think the clamp pressure would be higher? And local purchase is covered by warranty which is worth something.
