I got a hi flow cat installed on my car today and while it was still on the hoist I asked my mechanic to grease the clutch fork slightly as it was rattling and making a slight hi pitched noise. The sound went away after applying the grease but when I went to drive my engagement point had changed drastically, it used to be in the middle but now it is just above the floor and makes it difficult to drive. I know generally there is not a lot of adjustment on hydraulic clutch systems so i’m wondering how so much could have changed from such a simple thing. I was with him while he greased it so nothing improper was done I am thinking while he tried to get to it he might have bumped the clutch fork and stuffed the slight adjustment in the slave cylinder. Anyone have any ideas? I’m taking it back tomorrow to get it looked at but I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to help with the troubleshooting. I was told my car had a clutch change along with new slave cylinder when my light weight flywheel was put in and I believe it has as it has as the slave doesn’t look too old... Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Clutch Adjustment
Normally there's no adjustment down on the slave assembly near the bellhousing, it's all in the threaded pushrod at the top of the clutch pedal under the dash. So no idea how he managed to change the release point by playing around underneath.

Re: Clutch Adjustment
the only way i can see that happening is if you released some pressure on the slave touching the fork and allowed some fluid out and air in. that would cause the extended pedal motion.

I thought this was the case too but ive heard of some cars having slight adjustment on the slider pin of the slave, i guess i might just have to go under the dash and adjust it... Just baffles me as to how it happened, had an engagement point in the middle of the pedal throw then all the sudden it was at the bottom of the floor was so hard to get used to...

I will have to give this a look under the hoist tomorrow to see if any fluid has seeped out at all, if it has ill give it a bleed with fresh fluid...
Thanks for the ideas

Clutch Adjustment
Had a look at the problem in the early hours of this morning at a mates house, later realised that since i have had my car the slider pin in the slave cylinder was never seated properly and now after the clutch fork got jiggled it went back into its correct place, also bled the clutch a bit and feels heaps better too.
The clutch used to engage in the middle of the pedal throw which was unusual for a brand new clutch i thought so now it seems to make sense i guess, bites a bit harder too like a heavy duty should so im happy
Thanks for the help though
