Has anyone seen this product before? It's an after market silicone replacement for the some what crappy Mazda upper rubber shift boot on the NA/NB 5/6 speed boxes, mine has ripped and is in need of replacement (4th time since owning the car) I might try this one out to see if it lasts longer than the genuine Mazda part.

for $40 it's worth it. I'll bookmark and consider when my boot goes!

I just installed one of these, quality seems ok, silicone feels thin. But only one way to find out is to check it again after 3 months, well maybe 6 months as its only a weekend car.

Thanks for that Ryan, it does look interesting.

Might have to order one and try it out.....pity they don't have the lower boot as well.

So why does the OEM one split so easily?

The lower boot I can understand, it's in contact with oil etc.
But the upper boot is just to stop water/air? it's in no direct contact with anything that degrades rubber.

In that case silicone is good with heat. All comes down to durability I guess.

Yeah I ordered one lastnight, along with a Mazda lower boot so I'll slap up some pics when it arrives.

I just ordered one as well, my original is completely trashed so it will be interesting to see how this silicon one holds up.
