I am finishing off a clutch replacement and I'm unable to get the bolts for the PPF to start on the gearbox or line up on the diff.
any hints or tricks I should know?

I can't comment on the gearbox end, but on teh diff end you'll need to make sure that the stupid captive mushroom nuts are in, and the spacer underneath them is lined up.

Then it's a matter of jacking the diff up slightly to support the weight and help you tilt and angle it as best you can.

The diff end was annoying as hell, I have no idea why Mazda used all those stupid fuckign spacer block and didn't just make the PPF the right size to start with.

Got it in now, that job was a cast iron bitch to get done.
I am never changing a clutch without a hoist again.

Make sure to torque the PPF bolts correctly (and I'd even make sure to put a little blue loctite on them)

I had one vibrate loose a while back and fall out.

The front bolts are easy.

I dont understand why you removed the rear of the PPF for a clutch job.

Because I mistakenly thought that I had to remove the PPF to remove the gearbox, now know better.

Ah its all experience huh?

Next time remove the engine and gearbox as one unit. Much easier and quicker to boot.
