Headers from the USA

Has any one had any experience with these headers? Any possible problems with buying from the States via ebay? They seem a good price.

I would be very carefully buying generic extractors from ebay, they can crack and there's no guarantee you will even gain power as the stock headers aren't bad to begin with. On the other hand they are very cheap and they could work out great...

They should be fine, if you are able, put a stainless flex on the pipe just before the flange.

Stock headers are useless.
You must be joking.
Also, cheap stainless chinese rubbish, refer to my thread and the last manifold I built and why. You will see why you shouldnt buy those.

Depends what you are willing to spend, JDM extractors are the best of course, used ones probably set up back $500, new ones are $1000+

If you want something, brand new, with excellent dyno proven performance for less than just got quoted for used, PM me.
Also you must be trolling me saying that JDM is always best for extractors.

Here we go.
A stock set of headers(minus flange).
You can see inside the collector, the 1.5" pipes (which by the way are welded on the INSIDE impeding flow heaps) get squished down to a 1"x1"x1" triangle. Thats a sharpie pen inside the hole.
In the above photo you can see where they are crushed flat into the collector.
These, combined with the 1.75" 20 year old cat will ruin the performance even if you get rid of the baffled muffler and crush bent 1.75" piping.

I had racing beat extractors on an MX-5 i had and they were a beautiful piece and when you compare it to the stock set they make it look like a joke. They were probably a bit much money though, if you start thinking about $ per hp extractors are pretty bad value. I don't know how accurate this is firsthand, but i know a lot of the guys on miata.net just grind down the stock headers and clean up the welds and reckon they get decent enough power after consecutive dino runs with different headers.
