Hay guys, at the moment I'am looking for 1.8lt Intake plenums for my mx5, it seems tho that not many people don'tmake them. I have a Gruppe carbon intake set-up that has made a big power difference for my NA motor set-up, I'am not wanting too go to ITB's as I'am not a fan off dirt and debris getting into my motor, and I also wat it too be kept road legal. If I could find a good plenum it would really compliment the air intake set-up I have now. I know that http://nozzs.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_10 have this available for there 1.6 but thats all. Anyone know where too go looking?

What about the one the yanks call a 'square top' Mazda OE JDM one?

I have one here and it has no EGR valve provisions, maybe it also has other differences internally compared to the Aussie one?

The squaretops also remove the VICS butterfly system don't they?

Yeah they go to a VTCS system. Two stock manifolds are below if you want to take a look, generally I've only seen people make ITB's and FI manifolds aftermarket. You need to have a pretty serious N/A motor to warrant an upgrade over either though. Steve greens car is making over 115rwkw with the stock manifold for instance. I have heard the top 2F motors have extensively ported standard manifolds though... What is actually done to your car other than the gruppe intake?

If your only issue with ITBs is dirt and debris then there's different options to include a range of filters or an airbox to the ITB setup.

i vote the above on an air box for the itbs - or individual air filters. i have read that an increased volume intake manifold can lose power if the engine is not setup for it correctly for it though i am sure some of the more educated forumites on the matter will be able to chime in on it.
