There are a few treads covering these topics already. If you perform a quick search (found top right of screen) you will find a lot of the basic info.
If you still cannot find what you need after a search, feel free to post back here with a more specific question. And perhaps be more specific.

Quick points.
No 'kit' is needed for a swap, just a full loom and some very basic wiring work.

Search Re: ECUs.

A lot of turbo info is available already. Look at my garage thread for a good look at the intricate details.

Cheers,
Dann

OP,
You might want to rethink swapping the entire wiring loom over if you have never done it before as you will need complete wiring diagrams and it is just not worth the effort IMHO.

Any reason you are unable to source a BP from an late 1993-1997 NA8 and do the easier conversion? Perhaps try any of the sponsors/forum members in your area if applicable - *hint - update your location in your control panel*.

However, if you are going turbo down the road then now is the perfect time to get a standalone ECU although you do not need it to do the conversion above.

Hope this helps.

Les

Hi OP,

Yeh Les did the NA8 1.8 Conversion in my 89 NA6, with a Wolf3D V4.
6 Years later and still going strong :)
Nice chance to also drop in a 6 speed box, LSD and 1.8 Brakes :)

Regards
Rod

I'd recommend finding a nb se that has been ridden off and using it as a dona car.
As then you will have near all the parts you are looking for.
Ecu, loom, turbo motor, brakes and the list goes on. Plus some parts you can sell
They do pop up now and again on some auction sites.
Not very often but I've seen two over the last couple of years go for around 4
That's my opinion though.
Up to you what you do.
Good luck :D

Les, this conversion isn't much easier than an NB8A. You still have to figure out the cam/CAS, coil pack and throttle body issues which are the tough ones - the only real difference is the fuel rail.

I can speak for the OP here to an extent, because he has already bought an NB8A engine and loom off me. I indicated that the loom/ECU wasn't completely necessary, but he has the full engine loom and ECU from the donor car so the wiring isn't likely to be a massive challenge. He also has the NB8A coil pack, starter/alternator, injectors, fuel rail, TB and TPS, etc etc - he has everything he needs to make this swap.

His bigger issue will be post-turbo engine management on the NB8A, and even that won't be that hard.
