Loosing power

Hi Guys
I have a 97 NA8. It has ITBs and an Adaptronic Ecu. I have an intermittent fault on the car. When it is hot occasionally it looses power, sometimes all power and sometimes half power. I have an 02 gauge in the car and when it is playing up the gauge goes from full lean to full rich and generally is backfiring as well. If you stop the car for a while it will drive normallay again. We have put a new throttle switch on and have also checked and tested the coil pack and fuel pumps. Anyone got any ideas as what to try next.

When you say the 02 gauge goes from full lean to full rich does it do this while the car is playing up, or does it go from normal (when the car is right) to rich (when the car runs rough), or is it erratic?

When the car is running normally the gauge is sitting at around 14. Once it plays up the car starts backfiring and the gauge swings from lean to rich.

It sounds like a heat sensitive fault. Try cooling the sensor down, if that won't damage it.

If it swings straight to rich it means unburnt fuel, so I would think an ignition problem.

How did you test your coil pack?
