In my previous car (Nissan S15), the previous owner installed silicone radiator hoses. They both failed, both had splits/cracks in them and slowly leaked. Could have been just cheap eBay hoses....
I replaced them all back to OEM rubber.

Thanks, the ones I've ordered are from mx5parts UK and are supposed to be 4 ply and from a reputable UK hose manufacturer but I'll double check that four isn't actualy 2 and that the 'UK ' isn't now a suburb ln Hong Kong.

Hey mate.
It did start the split at the clamp, but splitting on the side, so I initially didn't spot it. In saying that, the clamp didn't seem to be overly tight.
I wouldn't stress about it though, seems you bought it froma reputable store. Where the ones I had probably came from China or something.

not stressing , I won't use them if they're dodgy , back they'll go . thought this schpeel might amuse particularly the 10 times bit , as far as I know the hoses have never been changed in my NA6 , it's only done 80000ks --but 20 years old , by my reckoning that gives me 200 years and/or 800000 klms until the next hose change
Manufactured exclusively for MX-5 parts by the UK's largest Silicone Hose manufacturer. Silicone hoses are designed to withstand pressure of up to 75psi and temperatures in excess of 450 degrees F! They will also outlast the standard rubber items by up to 10 times.

Thought I'd update this , the company that
suposedly manufactures these for mx5parts.co.uk is Artel however Artel hoses have a couple of distinguising charscteristics being thier logo on the hose and a black lining.
http://www.artelmotorsport.co.uk/homeThey also don't on first look appear to manufacture Mazda specific atall.--any ?- mayhap I missed them.
The hoses in the mx5parts pics have niether of these characteristics , ah hem-
http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/silicone-wate ... p-571.htmlI have em'd a wtf to Artel .
I'll post thier reply
