Air Conditioning Workshops - Sydney

Hello all,

Just wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for places around sydney that are good with a/c systems. Im not entirely sure if this should be in here or in electrical but if its wrong then mods feel free to correct me by moving it.

Right, so...

My '92 na6's a/c system wasn't touched by the previous owner for a few years (or so he says) and its about that time of year that i need it looked at (top down or not...it still gets damn hot).

Pressing the a/c does nothing but raise the revs for about 5-10 seconds, the blower fans work, just no cold air. My mechanic who did my pink slip had a quick look at it and reckons the compressor isn't getting any power and isn't kicking in so it may be an electrical problem.

It's still in r12 as far as i know so it seems like an r134 retrofit is on the books as well. Seeing as i dont know the history of the a/c system it could be anything, the seals might have all turned to crap as well.

So im just on the hunt for some workshops at the moment that can have a look at it and do whats necessary without charging an arm and a leg (ahh the life of a uni student...).

Im from around the south west area and so far have been recommended 2 places

-CP Auto Electricals at smithfield (5 minutes from where i live)
-Surpreme Car Air at hoxton park

But im just putting some feelers out there seeing if any of you folk have any other recommendations on places i can go have a chat to.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

can put in a good word for Bebco around Regents Park/Auburn, inner west Sydney.

my boss has his ac serviced with them (in his 86 series landcruiser)- they're very thorough with their inspection and servicing. not to mention, when the AC is on its lowest setting, it feels like you're at the South Pole.

I had mine done at Northside Auto Electrics at Gladesville last year.

Nice guys and decently priced.

Sounds decent. Might have to check these guys out. I've got plans to possibly book the car in this wednesday anywhere so we'll see.

Research (googling haha) seems to indicate they specialise in older holdens or something along those lines but nothing wrong with that as i'd rather trust this bunch with an r12>r134 conversion then some random auto electrical/ac joint.

And a good word is always better then no word haha cheers

I've used a guy in Mascot called Chas something-or-other Auto electrician who's on Botany Rd just near the airport freeway overpass.

Did a great job on my SP and the A/C has never been colder, even when it was brand new.
He charged me $130 for an inspection, special UV dye and took out all my old gas and re-filled it.
