hey guys doing a service on my nb8c this weekend, oil, filter, plugs, the usual.
now i also wanted to check the timing and quick search came up with lots of reccomendations to set it at 14degrees btdc.
now does this apply to nb8b/c or is it only a mod for non vvt?
what should the timing be?

thanks :D

ignition timing in NB8B/C is set by the ECU, and is not adjustable.

well, mazda never intended it to be adjustable... some people have modified the CAS to 'trick' the ECU into advancing the timing. 14deg might be too much though, since NB engines have higher compression than NA engines.

Tks to SAMX5, '98-'05 CAS mod no longer required as he found a $30 COTS solution: use an adjustable timing wheel to the advance timing:
