Just curious as to how this should work... When my motor was swapped, they kept the old clutch in but machined a standard flywheel, the clutch did have a little sheen to it and couple of small heat spots. Now, over time, under hard acceleration, it feels a little rough. It is as though the clutch is slipping ever so slightly. Acceleration feels smoother and better on half throttle. If i flick the car into neutral and go through the rev range, it's smooth as caramel.

Also, the standard kick back on deceleration feels a little laggy and delayed, almost like something is sticking... There is also a squeaking noise coming from the back of then engine bay that will go away when pressure is applied to the clutch pedal.

I too would lean toward the Spigot bearing (bush?) and the fix would require gearbox removal, I had an old Holden once and it only squeaked on cold days, the bush was a non ferrous lubricant filled alloy and the lube only worked once it was warm.

Yeah, sounds about right. I'm not so concerned about the noise though, more what is going on with the clutch/flywheel.

The squeaking noise if it sounds like crickets, could be the slave cylinder pushrod touching the clutch arm.
Needs a lil grease to shut it up.

not sure about the descriptions you are giving. Might just be easier to get a mechanic to test drive it eg MX5 factory or someone you know. If the clutch is slipping it usually pretty easy to reproduce- eg handbrake on release clutch- select high gear on a steep hill ie make the car lug etc.
