Changing diff ratio on open centre na6 diff

Before everyone torches me for thinking about messing with an OC diff, my crown wheel just shat a tooth and I'm wanting the cheapest way out because I'm still in debt with mum and dad.

I had in mind to change up to 4.6s but I'm doing research first, obviously. The things I want to know are:

Has this ever been done before?

What's the current p&a on parts for a 4.6 conversion?

What's involved parts wise?

Hope someone can help out here, and this isn't a necessary upgrade because I can just get another open diff from a wrecker or something. Just thought now would be the best time to do it.

Cheers,
Nick.

Thanks for that dude. It doesn't actually worry me keeping the open centre diff for the time being, just thought it would be a good time to upgrade if I could.

I've just been scratching around the forums over the last hour or so, finding a little bit of info regarding Kia sportage diffs. Any chance I could use the crown wheel and pinion off one of those? If so, which diff would I be chasing them for? and off what year model?

Thanks guys.

Is this for a road-going car?
If so, you need the appropriate speedo-sender on the gearbox or else your gauge will be out.

Yeah I was on that last night. As far as I can see, the only other crown wheel that's gonna fit the stock diff is a 4.875:1. Trouble is finding it haha. oh well, I've gotta get money first so I've got a bit of a hunt ahead.

That's definitely helped me realise that I'm not going to be upgrading any time soon, haha. Stock ratios this time around.

Thanks for your help.
