Hi,

Wanting to add VTPS to my NA6 and was thinking (hoping) that a RX7 throttle body would bolt on.

Thought was a) it would be less restrictive WOT and b) be a simple way to add VTPS.

Does anyone know which model and /or if any other would be better?

I'm aware of the Auto throttle body, but felt that cost only adds VTPS, and wanted to do more if I'm doing it.

I reckon if an RX7 one fit wed know already, and ive never heard of it.

Why not just an auto one, what do you think youll gain by running an rx7 one?

A stock TB isnt a restriction at all, so going bigger will only give you worse throttle modulation, it certaintly wont give you more power.

So do you know if the auto bolts up and plugs in to STD ecu, or do I have to upgrade to my MS2 ecu first?

Id be amazed if it just plugged in and worked, and if it did it wouldnt improve anything. So just go ms2 first and get used to tuning it with the AFM and then do the swap when your comfy tuning it.

Mmmmmm. I've read that getting idle to work without a VTPS isn't easy. So my plan is to delete the AFM, add my IAT and connect up the VTPS so that it all is there and makes tuning easier. I'm also adding the WB O2 so I guess so much is changing that I'm probably best to just jump in !

Well you HAVE to add the o2 sensor. But ok, so long as your confident you can wire it in and set it up straight away, and I spose the base maps are all there. GL

with all these threads asking about what u can do to make it faster pretty much maybe u should just still to something thats tried and tested.

i thought u wanted to keep it sorta stock anyway and just to easy bolt on mods?

Yeah, it seems he is still just trying to be inventive.
G, maybe buy some books, like graham bells, 4 stoke performance tuning?

All that is bolt on/off....

1) you unbolt the throttle body (as is) and bolt on the Auto VTPS throttle body and wire up to new ECU (through existing harness).

2) you unbolt the AFM and bolt in a custom-made replacement with AIT bung etc, and insert wires in to the existing harness.

3) you unbolt the O2 NB and bolt in the O2 WB - the wires go directly into the new ECU.

4) you unbolt/disconnect the old ECU, plug in the new ECU.

5) you then spend countless nights and weeks trying to tune the damn thing (perhaps, but we'll see).

... its all fun yeah?

I'm using a NB6 intake manifold which mates to the NB8 throttle body which has a VTPS.

There are a heap of threads about using a BMW TPS which bolts onto your existing throttle body. I'd suggest trying something like that.
