They represent a VERY poor hp/$ ratio.

That post is not even half the making of a discussion
Yes making lots of naturally aspirated power is a more expensive proposition when compared to boosting. Doesn't mean it isn't desirable to make an N/A motor.
Edit: and I didn't make this thread to discuss the pros and cons of $/hp. Not everyone reads all forums but it's worth spreading the word about group buys.

Re: Anyone with a mind to throw IRTB's on their car...
If youve seen my garage thread youd have seen that with the work in my engine, I could have built a 350rwhp setup... Twice. Literally.
So I get N/A power.
I also own a car with aftermarket ITBs, but I cant think of anyone here who would benefit from them.
But cool is cool i suppose.

Re: Anyone with a mind to throw IRTB's on their car...
The amount of money it cost me all up for my car could have easily built 2 x 350rwhp setups.
I never suggested it is a 350rwhp setup.
What I suggested is that the amount of work in my aspirated engine could have paid for 2 350rwhp setups.
Its way less than 1500 to build a 400rwhp bottom end. 300 for the clutch, 500 for the MS, 250 for the injectors, 400 for the churbo, 300 for the intercooler, and the manifold and dump can be had for under 500.
My car owes me much more than two of that.
Also at 10.5:1 on E85 damn near 300 is achievable on a 2554.
Anyways, the only point of my post was so that noobs dont see this and do the standard 'OMG BRO, Ill get them and make an extra 50hp because all fast n/a engines have these!!!...'.
You can go and buy a used begi turbo/mani/dump combo from MT.net, then buy a MS, then 100 for rx7 injectors, drop 250 for an ebay clutch and tune it on e85 and make 250rwhp.
This is for the same money as buying some Maruha F cams for an nb8b and a mania intake, and that will get you what.... 15rwhp? The point is simply that my atmo setup cost heaps more than an equivalent power turbo setup would have, so I obviously understand the positives of building atmo.

Yeah, but these ITB's sound so damn cool! And they make the engine rev a little better if I remember correctly so eh, if someone wants to buy them let them buy them

Yeah Im not going to stop anyone from buying them. But they wont do ANYTHING for an engine thats even close to stock.

Dann, I really appreciate your input in most discussions. I think everyone here knows that you've built a hell of a car for what is relatively pocket change. You know what you're doing, and if I was looking at getting cams made up, I'd probably turn to you for advice. But in this thread, slug_dub has just let people know that there is a group buy on a popular bolt on item available, so anyone who was previously interested in IRTBs could get involved.
There are some people (myself included) who appreciates this finesse in squeezing power out of an engine without bunging a hairdryer on. These people know what they're up for before they even start, so it's near on useless telling them how they could have gotten twice the power for half the money.
Again, the reason you have a million PMs in your inbox is because you're intuitive and inventive and you know the most cost effective way to do things. The reason you're on people's ignore lists is because you go on people's threads and tell them they could go a completely different direction for less money when they just don't care about the money. Because of this, some people get the impression that you're loud and arrogant, which is not what I've heard from the people who have met you.
Can we let this discussion get back on topic now?

Re: Anyone with a mind to throw IRTB's on their car...
Sorry I never intended to go OT. I only posted to arise some discussion and let noobs know that these do not mean 20rwhp.
My post regarding turbo setups was actually a pro-atmo post. I was saying that you can build a weapon cheap reliable turbo setup, but still I have an n/a setup. So I was advocating n/a.
Cheers,
Dann

All good mate. I definitely appreciate the idea of getting some discussion happening, but perhaps in another thread

Personally, I reckon if someone was going for looks over practicality, I'd much prefer people went for IRTBs, Jackson Racing CAIs and ARC chambers than hellaflush. At least the former has some benefit to drivability.

Re: Anyone with a mind to throw IRTB's on their car...
A serious built NA motor with ITB's will take the prize any day in my favour maybe not for power but in terms off really doing your homework to research and then sqeeze out every hp available from a little MX5 motor. Thats why F1 cars are so fascinating, altho millions off dollars goes into funding the research and development off an F1 car and team far outways any money that anyone in there right mind would spend on an mx5, there the peak off engineering with there engine technology. They have a couple more cylinders but squeezing 800hp out off a 3lt v8 naturaly aspirated is very impressive. I'am sorry I may have gone off topic but I will pay full atantion to an F1 cars engine than somone whos slamed a turbo on the motor anyday. 250hp at the treads of an naturaly aspirated motor is deffietly reachable.

f1 cars are 2.4 V8's and they have about 750bhp but thats not important.
want these!!!!
would love to get these put a plenum on them with my supercharger. that would be PIMP!!

Not that I'm going to buy some but, can someone cut and paste the highlights of the cr.net deal (I'm not a member)? I love looking at the stuff.
