hey guys,
i removed my intake manifold for painting
upon reassembly my car will not start.
i lost a bit of coolant when i took it off but i replaced it (would it not start if there was a bubble right over the temp sensor?)
i also have done a cops conversion and turned the engine over without them connected to the plugs could this have fried them?
my other thought is some wire must not be plugged in. i know i plugged in the coolant temp wires at the back aswell as the injector wires.
car worked fine before taking manifold off.
1.6 90 manual
cars mods are: turbo, intercooler, cops, diypnp (mafless), 470cc's, will edit if i rememeber any more.
cheers for any help
if someone knows of a good intake manifold removal/installation guide id be greatly appreciative i just havent been able to find any via google. i figure using a guide i could go over everything again make sure ive missed nothing.

Have you ever tested your cops setup before? Hows the tune? Are you using an AIT sensor?
Many many questions. Big air leak?

cops have been on the car for ages but no i havent tested it via the ms if thats what you mean?
the tune was fairly decent could be better but the car ran and idled and started fine.
i am using an iat sensor its connected correctly and wasnt touched during the removal process.
from what i can tell theres no air leaks but tomorrow morning i will take it all off start again.
cheers

Squirt some petrol in past the butterfly to confirm its not a fuel issue.

Manifold gasket upside down perhaps? A friend did that on a 1.8 NB inadvertently and it wouldn't start. Not sure if you can do it on an NA though.

What are the symptoms of the not starting? Car turns over? Are the plugs wet after a bit of cranking? Are you getting spark?

Oh lord, this could take forever to sort.
I will start easy;
Fuel?
Spark?

Too many questions at once for this one, mate. At least he didn't dismantle the fusebox and dashboard at the same time.

ok figured it out this morning.
it took me a while to find because its not something that should have become unplugged.
cam angle sensor wires werent pressed down fully (was sitting in place just not all the way down)
dunno how it happened as it should have been clicked in beforehand maybe I absent mindedly half unplugged it.
so I have now stopped regretting painting my intake manifold.
btw quick thought is it common to get coolant into cyl 4's intake port when you remove the manifold?

yes, and probably best to suck it out to avoid hyrdro locks, although the chances of a hydro lock are low, you may burn out the starter
