Where to install MS3?

Having looked at all the MS kits, I'm contemplating a DIY MS3, but I'm wondering where people would install the case? it is big a boxy, unlike the MS PNP which would probably fit nicely next to, or replace the existing ECU.

Maybe if you mounted the MS3 ECU in the engine bay, but I'm unsure about that?

I'd mount it under the floor plate in the stock location. There is heaps of room down there. I could easily fit three DIYPNP's side by side.

The MS3 is apparently better but it's far less PNP than the DIYPNP? That said since mine went in, I've never dríven the car without it.

+1 factory location

The ms3 isnt really a pnp at all, but it does flex fuel and vvt among MANY extras.

VVt is irrelevant to a NA6 unless you drop a different motor in. :)

You could do VVT with a rule and RPM/Load switchpoint in the DIYPNP anyhow couldn't you?

I think its a little bit more complicated than that.
If it wasnt they wouldnt have taken 6 months to get the code nice, and any ecu with a shiftlight pinout would be capable of vvt control.

I know someone who controls his VVT with a switch on the dash, I think the standard output and a rule would control VVT. The new code would just be more sophisticated so it's less on and off. Prediction etc.

Yeah to be honest I dont have experience with tuning VVT on an MS (powerfc though...).

Sounds like your the MS authority around here LOL.

Visually, the MS3 looks a fair bit larger, perhaps twice as high! Still sure it fits in that space?

Gslender, do you know the actual measurements of the MS3 box?

The OEM position is pretty deep behind the kickplate, and you'd be mounting the ECU to the firewall rather than to the original bracket.

How about you get the measurements and measure from the firewall to the kick plate? I have a decent amount of space above my DIYPNP and the kick plate. Otherwise if it really won't fit I'd mount the MS3 high under the dash behind the glovebox.

You've got me thinking about building a MS3... $370 plus the $90 expansion. Mind you I think the only main benefit I'd have would be better resolution for PWM.
