Toyota Coil Over Plug Ignition Results

Ive just acquired a set of toyota cops and a whole loom after doing an engine swap in my mums 02 corolla this weekend. Ive done the swap but as yet still dont have a tacho.
Now keeping in mind im on e85 and have 10.5:1 compression, the stock coils with good leads probably were having a pretty hard time.
The power difference is phenominal especially at very high revs where the stock coils dont have enough time to charge.
Im not normally the type of guy who gets a pod filter and goes 'omg hekt1k doriftor powers i got 30 more hp atw!' so im not going to exagerate, but i gained at least 10hp it was way way more than going from the airbox to my well developed intake. Im just floored.
Even my girlfriend noticed straight away. SHE couldnt believe it. And now ive fixed my e85 cold start and cold running issues. And the idle is less cammy.
Highly recommended and very cheap to do.

Worth mentioning that you do need aftermarket management as you need to drop the dwell down(2.5ms from memory) otherwise goodbye Toyota COPS's. They also don't fit directly into an SVT valve cover. I'm waiting until I get an NB8A engine to use mine

True. They will work with stock but i dont know what the stock dwell is, do you?
The lowest my ecu will go is 4ms so we will see how it goes. No problem at all so far.

Changed to CoPs last year - felt a noticeable improvement even on comparitively standard NA8. I was lazy though & bought a cheap 2nd hand Splitfire DIS, but tbro did an excellent DIY write up here:
viewtopic.php?f=77&t=44754Dann, thought your car was going to be off the road for a while, or is this one of a number of things you're doing to it?

Are you running the cop's in direct fire or wasted spark? I'm curious as to whether there is any longevity issues by running wasted spark with these. The cop's on my Toyota Echo rally car started to crack the insulation after 2 years of rallying (factory ecu - direct fire mode).

My ecu will only allow single or dual coils in waste spark, no sequential. So im in waste spark mode with 4ms dwell. We will see how long they last...
But for now its pulling very very hard and strong so. We will see.

To 93..
Yeah its rego ran out yesterday, fortunately my street is privately owned by my mate, Mr guvementee, hes french...
Theres a few things that will get done, this was one of them. Ive decided to prep it as a modified naturally aspirated car rather than go for the turbo blokes. Its just so expensive to run a turbo car. And for me thats no go atm.
I think the car will be competitive as a mod n/a car. It has a lot of power, its very very light and it has very good suspension to match.
Maybe ill be wrong?

And maybe not - certainly worth testing it out. GL!

You know that didn't even occur to me. It is indeed fortunate that you're on a private road which we could stay on the whole time. Thanks for inviting me around, the COP stuff is something I've not had experience with before so it was good to check it out.

I've recently bought some COPs myself, will do them up when I get a chance!
Did you cut the loom pre-ignitor or gut it like in the mt.net example?
