Reconditioning a 6 speed gearbox

Hi All.

My 2002 NB 6 speed gearbox is in need of new synchros on 2nd, 3rd and probably 4th gears. In times gone by, I have done this sort of thing myself with the aid of a repair manual. However, I can't find a repair manual for the MX5 gearbox which goes past changing the oil, replacing the rear oil seal, and replacing the speedo sensor. Can anyone point me in the direction of a repair manual that describes in detail how to dismantle and reassemble a 6 speed gearbox? Failing that, can anyone recommend a gearbox specialist in the Wollongong - Sydney region? Does anyone on this forum do this sort of work?

Thankyou.

Yes, I had found that link in the MX5 Technical Guides section of this forum, but it only provides the basic repairs I mentioned. So I guess I need professional help. Can anyone help with that? Thanks.

Hey Dann, you're a champion - that's exactly what I was after. I'm in the process of printing it so I can have a bit of light bed time reading. First impression is it looks a bit daunting - 148 pages. The last gearbox I worked on was my Sprite about 40 years ago, and the appropriate section of the workshop manual was about 10 pages. The 6 speed MX5 gearbox looks quite a bit more complex than that little unit. After learning a bit more about the gearbox I may just decide to take it to a professional anyway.

And thanks for coming back with the link after I missed the significance of your first post.
