lubing clutch slave cylinder

Postby vrmmmpshhh » Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:57 pm

hey guys i posted this question already but in the wrong section. seems like my clutch slave cylinder makes that dreaded squeak noise when im at the lights or car is idling. i thought it might be the cylinder itself but i think its the actual arm that comes out of the gearbox itself. it seems to be rattling somewhere inside the gearbox? there is a big rubber grommet there but im reluctant to remove it incase. will the gearbox need to be removed to fix this stupid squeak.

I think you can remove the boot without removing the gearbox. You will have to unbolt the slave cyl though, but you should not have to disconnect the hydraulic lines. It is held onto the gearbox by two 12mm bolts, and the bracket by one 14mm (17mm?) nut through the engine/bellhousing.

If it is a squeaky clutch fork, and you can get access this way, be VERY careful lubricating it so as to not get lube on any rotating parts that might flick off onto the clutch/pressure plate. DO NOT go spraying WD40 in there or something...
